Founded in 1985, our school is the earliest institution established in China for business administration education and research. Since its establishment, relying on the profound cultural tradition and academic background of Sun Yat-sen University, and supported by the Hong Kong Ho's Education Foundation, Fok Ying Tung Foundation, Pei Hua Education Foundation and other domestic and overseas funds, Sun Yat-sen Business School has become a top renowned business school in China and the world.

Business Administration was selected into the list of “Double-First Class” Construction Discipline by the Ministry of Education in 2017and tied for first place (A+) in the fourth round of national discipline evaluation, ranked the top 1% in the Best Discipline of China by Shanghai Ranking in 2017 & 2018, being the only discipline in Guangdong Province that ranked the top 1%. In 2018, our school won the second prize of National Teaching Achievements and the top three most influential MBA programs in China. Internationally, our school was accredited (full five years) by EQUIS in 2017 & AACSB in 2018. MBA of our school ranked the 28th worldwide by The Economist,entered the

Global Top 100 by The Economist for three consecutive years,ranked the 69th worldwide in 2018, and two alumni were elected by Forbes the top 30 under 30 Asia. At the same time, the research achievements of our school have also made historic breakthrough, which quality and quantity both improved significantly. The number of projects approved by the Department of Natural Science Foundation of China and the funding amount both ranked the first place in the National University Management Department. High-level works continue to grow, and academic influence continues to increase.

Our school has two first-level disciplines: Business Administration (National Key Discipline and Provincial Key Discipline) and Management Science and Engineering (Provincial Key Discipline). Currently there are two major programs: Business Administration (which includes six directions: Marketing, Tourism Management, E-Commerce, Human Resource Management, International Business, and Strategic and Innovative Entrepreneurship) and Accounting (which includes two directions: Accounting and Financial Management. Our university has 2 mobile stations for post-doctoral research, 9 doctoral degree programs, 9 academic master's degree programs, 5 professional Master's Degree Programs, 2 undergraduate programs and 27 provincial, university-level and school-level scientific research institutions. With the outstanding scientific research achievements, our university has become one of the most active leading places in Management.
